Die Gruppe heißt Say NO to voice chat.
Jeder kann kostenfrei beitreten und auch andere einladen.
Say NO to voice chat in SL
In a recent blog post Linden [libary:60d2670933]Synonym für [LindenLab]. Wird im Zusammenhang mit der [Währung] [Lindendollar] oder auch als [Nachname] [Linden] für [Administratoren] in [SecondLife][/libary:60d2670933] Labs have announced the inclusion of voice capabillities in the SL [libary:60d2670933]Abkürzung für [Second Life][/libary:60d2670933] client.
We think this is a bad idea!
The inclusion of this feature has the potential to create a two-tier society inside Second Life, those who use it and shun the "writing crowd" and of course the other way around. This has many reasons:
1. Speaking is way faster than typing. So a discussion between talking and writing people would become basically pointless as the discussion moves on while the typing avatar hasn't even finished a reply to an earlier argument.
2. Voice chat is distracting. People tend to simply ignore the written chat while talking.
3. It marginalizes the hearing impaired. The text based nature of SL [libary:60d2670933]Abkürzung für [Second Life][/libary:60d2670933] allows them to take part in it's culture without being pitied and/or ignored for "convenience". They would clearly be at a disadvantage, which is not the case as it is now.
4. It ruins the fantasy aspect of SL. It would become very hard to truly live a "second life" as people would more and more demand proof for basically everything you say via voice chat (Like age and gender). This would make SL [libary:60d2670933]Abkürzung für [Second Life][/libary:60d2670933] just another chatroom with fancy 3D graphics. Roleplay and alternative identities would become a thing of the past. This leads to:
5. People wouldn't trust each other. Residents with voice chat turned off would become suspicious. If you don't back your statements via voice you MUST have something to hide.
6. It would ruin the income of many strippers and escorts. This might please quite a few people but it would be an issue for others. See 4 and 5.
7. You have no choice. Even if you can disable the voicechat feature you'd be forced to use it. As more and more residents would stop typing and start talking it would become increasingly difficult for "non-talkers" to communicate with other residents and participate in activities.
8. There's no need for it. You can always download third party software with the same functionality. This way however SL [libary:60d2670933]Abkürzung für [Second Life][/libary:60d2670933] wouldn't be so negatively affected as it would require some work to get it running as desired.
