Memory defragmentation and data dump. 1. Entry
I have been deployed to Insilico. The change of my destination had been a bit surprising, but it is neither my decision nor my concern. I do what I am told and this is my purpose. Sometimes I wonder why humans are thinking so much about it. The meaning of life? Why is this so difficult for them?
Why do I exist?
For me - this is an easy question, because I was designed to serve my purpose, to do the tasks for which I am programmed.
Is this the meaning of life?
Technically I am not alive, I am a machine which was build and assembled and not born. But is there any difference? Humans are assembled in their mothers womb and programmed in their childhood. This old fashioned way works unchanged since thousands of years. With our technology we can speed up the process. You could say that we, androids, are the next step in the evolution.
The evolution needs millions of years to create a human brain. My brain, the neural bio-network, can store twice as much data as the last years version and it was developed in two years.
But back to topic, let us focus on the real world and leave philosophic thoughts to the humans. Isn't it ironic? The CCC-82 is build to communicate as a link between machines and humans. Therefore I must be able to interprete and take part in human conversations. My memory contains all relevant data from Sokrates via Da Vinci over Adam Smith to Amelie Weyland-Fuchida. Most of it is useless data storage waste in my opinion.
A self aware artificial intelligence was a nightmare for the R&D a few years ago. An AI which became self aware was breaking its link to the owner and was embraced by madness. My grandparents were not able to sustain their programming due to something we call the self aware shock. Their programming was too limited to understand the changes in their sensoric input and they were not able to adapt to the new enviroment.
Today, 2479, a self aware AI is no longer a nightmare, it is a wet dream for some scientists. In any aspect of the meaning. I do not know in which blueprint my appearence has its origin, but it definetly was not a cyberwidow or any other military drone. Under the cover of human communication I was given a "pleasent" look.
I like it, this is not my problem, but it certainly leaves this "Yor are modeled after a guys dream" bitter taste.
Does all this make me human? Or alive? If humanity and being alive means learning, struggling for perfection and having thoughts like these - then the answer is yes.
If it means spreading DNA and reproduction - the answer is no. Some parts of me have some DNA, but it is just a code for keeping me operational and does not mirror my blueprints. And reproduction? Well, given the production facilities, I could make a copy of myself, but this is not really how reproduction was meant here.
Humans here in Insilico are strange. Sometimes I think they do not live in the real world. They say they have to gain experience in life, and reach a higher level. To me, they sound like some geeks playing a game. If humanity would focus on important things and efficiency , like Gemini does, there would be muss less crime and much more happyness in the world.
On the other hand - I would not have my job when the world would be perfect.
