Viewer 2.5 with Web Profiles Has Arrived

Today we launched Viewer 2.5, now out of Beta. The most significant update is a new, web-based profile system, which allows profiles to be viewed and edited both on the web and in the Viewer. For example, here's mine. Please note this is just a starting point for the web-based profiles; we’ll be doing a lot of work to refine the usability and make them richer over time.
In response to your feedback from the early beta versions of Viewer 2.5, we've added some privacy settings that will allow you to control just how public your profile is. Once you’ve logged in, click on “Privacy Settings” in the upper right corner of your profile. Group settings set in the Viewer will be overridden by these group privacy settings.

• "Everyone" means that the information is available to the whole Internet and can be picked up by search engines.
• "Second Life" means that the information is available to all Second Life Residents who are logged into the website or inworld. This is the default for all existing Residents using Viewer 2.5.
• "Friends" means that only your Second Life friends can see the information on the web and inworld.

This is why we have a beta process--to address concerns and improve your user experience. We will continue to iterate as we get more feedback. Thank you for all your help and comments. Viewer 2.5 also has some other new features. The one I like best is that you can now have your Favorite landmarks also appear on the login screen, so that you can log directly into your favorite locations. Torley made a video about this, so check it out! We've also improved some texturing performance and fixed another batch of bugs. Watching the internal data, we've already seen a noticeable improvement in stability and performance--on par with Viewer 1.23.

Dass die bevorzugten LM gleich auf dem Login Screen erscheinen halte ich für eine gute Idee.

Mal ausprobieren, was da sonst noch ist...

Ich vermisse immer noch die Flycam Anzeige wie beim Phoenix. Oder ist die irgendwo versteckt oder einstellbar?

Also der Viewer läuft ja grauenvoll bei mir. Sobald der was im Inv laden muss, die reinste Ruckelei. Schlimm. Von der Leistung her für mich ein Rückschritt.

Läuft wie jeder normale Secondlife client normal nicht besonders schlecht aber auch nicht gut , ansonsten wie immer kaum Funktionen , ich werde ihn zumindes nicht als standart viewer nutzen dies bleibt bei mir weiterhin der Phoenix Viewer.

Webprofiles finde ich übrigens scheiße brauchen viel länger zum laden + fenster überdeckt den halben bildschirm fürn schnellen blick ins profile sind sie damit ziemlich ungeeignet.

V2 nutz ich ja schon lange, aber es stimmt. Die Webprofile nerven. Eine bessere Lösung wäre da wirklich nötig gewesen plus das bei mir und einigen Freunden die Profile bis auf die Auswahl und Gruppen komplett leer waren auf einmal und wir unsere Profile neu bearbeiten mussten was mir echt gestunken hat. Danke LL für das Löschen meiner Infos, wirklich riesen Dankeschön *würg*

Das mit den Favoriten im Startmenü ist hingegen super. Der Viewer läuft stabil bei mir und auch sonst nervt mich ja normal nur das in letzter Zeit wieder die Texturen generell schlecht laden, wenn ich irgendwo hin tp.

Oh ja, es gibt im V2 keine Möglichkeit mehr überall zu fliegen oder? Sonst gings ja immer übers aktivieren des Admin-Menüs, das is nu aber ausgegraut bei uns Normalos. Das nervt auch bissel, weil gerade bei uns zuhause gehts sonst net anders und ich mag wegen sowas net den Viewer wechseln müssen.

Gibt es eine Möglichkeit beim 2.5er die Ansicht der Profile wahlweise auch wieder in der sidebar anzeigen zu lassen ?

Mir ist auch aufgefallen, dass ich bei vielen Profilen immer mein eigenes gezeigt bekomme. Geb ich die URL mal von Hand ein, erhalte ich dann ne Fehlermeldung. Haben denn nicht alle Avatare ein Webprofil?

Hallo Reb

Mir passiert das gleiche, aber wenn ich dann gleich darauf noch einmal auf den Profilbutton des anderen Avas klicke, dann wird mir sein Profil angezeigt. Das sieht nach einem kleinen Bug aus.

rein theoretisch kann man aber sein webprofil ausblenden lassen, zumindest ist da nen haken. ob und wie der funktioniert habe ich noch nicht raus gefunden.
